The Urasoe English Newsletter is a bi-monthly
publication of the International Relations Section. It provides information relevant to foreigners living in or
visiting Urasoe City, including event listings, City Hall announcements, and articles about life on Okinawa.

The Urasoe International Relations Association
is an organization devoted to increasing exchange between the people of Urasoe and friends
from around the world. It arranges foreign language courses for members and home visits with
Okinawan families for International Center Trainees.

The National Theater Okinawa is one of only
5 national theaters in Japan. It was built to preserve and promote a form of classical Ryukyu dance known
as "kumiodori," as well as other traditional Ryukyu performing arts.

The Coordinator of
International Relations is a native speaker of English recruited through the Japan
Exchange and Teaching Programme to assist with IR activities in Urasoe. The CIR organizes and
participates in community activities and helps non-Japanese speakers in the Urasoe area.
