Tackle the mask shortage with DIY!

Upon request from residents, Urasoe City has decided to implement the "DIY mask project."

Several organizations have also voiced their support for the project.

Urasoe City wishes to inform residents about this method to help reduce the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Reasons for project

・Mask shortage

・To give consideration to high-priority facilities such as medical facilities and care homes

・To reduce the amount of one-time-use masks

・In response to a request from the Ministry of Education (March 25, 2020)

Project details

1) We intend to distribute masks created for this project to facilities (schools, care homes, public institutions, etc.) before the new school year begins.

※We do not mind how masks are created, but please feel free to use the instructions below.

2) To inform children about ways to protect themselves and offer a method to make their own masks.

Intended effects

Reduced spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

As there is no sign of COVID-19 cases peaking out, please be thorough in handwashing with soap, gargling, and practicing good resipratory hygiene.
